Hygge is all about intentional cosy living and is a perfect home interiors trend for us to look at as we start to snuggle up for the colder months.

It's crazy to think we're well into the darker half of the year now. But, the nights are definitely drawing in and that makes us want to get cosy. We take a look at the Danish concept of Hygge and how you can incorporate it into your homes for ALL those wholesome snug vibes!

What is Hygge and How Can I Get Some?

Hygge (pronounced hoo-ga) is a Danish concept that means cosiness and connection created through quality time spent with good people.

Hygge-inspired homes are about creating inviting, sociable spaces. Hygge doesn't mean only cosy, but lends itself to intentional living. It encourages us to switch off from all the tech and focus on the small pleasures with good company to ward off the long and cold Scandinavian nights.

The style taps into Scandi decor - functional, clean, bright design that creates inviting and sociable spaces which maximise light. It's also meant to be warm, welcoming and cosy - soft fabrics, rustic touches, candles and gentle lighting. Comfortable seating with warmth and softness. A general sense of a space being lived in, with personal touches. Wood, velvets, chunky knits, fluffy faux furs, pillows and throws.

Some Hygge Room Design Inspiration

Living Room

Our customer Laura shared this image in a review for two of our Ida tan faux leather sofas. We have to say, we're in love! This living room really captures that hygge sense of bright, light and welcoming. The Ida sofas nail that Scandi soft vibe. And everything, from the colour palette and soft furnishings to the 2 sofas facing each other invites comfy socialising.

Dining Room

@lifewithmalamutes tagged us in this incredible photo of their very cosy looking dining area. This set-up features our Halle taupe fabric diinng chairs with black metal legs. The warm wood tones and simple furniture design is very Scandi-inspired. The candle and flowers, the perfectly draped table runner and the modern-rustic vibes add warmth. Two of floofiest pets really add to that snuggle factor, too!

Bedrooms

Having a bedroom that's uncluttered yet cosy is the core that Hygge ideal. Here's we've got our Azure white solid pine bed and our Diamond mirrored bedside table. We've set up these with those trademark soft draped fabrics and wood theme. The warm gold tones add warmth but the Scandi-inspired furniture with some reflective sparkle keeps it light and bright.

Hygge Is For Life Not Just For Christmas!

Yes, it's cosy. Yes, there are blankets and candles and fairy lights. But you can embrace hygge at any time of the year and lean into enjoying the quiet peaceful moments with loved ones.

We adore this magical garden set up from @lulu.loves.home that features our Maldives Corner Sofa Set. It manages to capture everything about the hygge concept and there's no reason you can't take cosy outdoors, in summer or winter!

@homewithrach_ has leant into the full Scandi vibes with a wooden dining table and our Halle dining chairs. These have been dressed to the nines with gorgoeus spruce and pine boughs that add colour and will smell amazing. The table dressings are a sweet touch that add colour and interest, too!
