17 Furniture Ideas For Hosting The Perfect Christmas!29th Nov 2021
Posted by Alice Ewens on 29th Nov 2021
This week, we're getting festive and showcasing our favourite ideas for hosting the perfect Christmas. So get yourself a cuppa in your fave Christmassy mug (or a sneaky mulled wine?), crack open that box of mince pies, and have a read.
So you've agreed to host Christmas, have you? Are you excited? Or secretly kind of dreading it now you've signed up to host? Well, worry not. We've got some gorgeous ideas and inspiration that'll have you warbling Mariah Carey with tinsel in your hair in no time.
It can get awfully cosy when Gran, Grandad, Aunty Jan and Kev and all the kids rock up for Christmas. And what if someone unexpected pops by? Our first bit of advice is to make sure you've got plenty of space.
Extending dining tables are a space-saving and dining solution perfect for Christmas. No one likes to squeeze around a table that’s not quite big enough, bashing elbows while trying to carve the turkey. We have a range of gorgeous extendable dining tables that will grow to accommodate more guests as you need and then shrink back down to a smaller space-saving option when things quieten down.
All our dining table sets are next day delivery too!
Making sure you've got enough seats for all the extra bums at Christmas can be a total nightmare! I've ended up sat on beer crates before now! But, to save you from the last-minute DIY seating, you can buy any of our dining chairs on their own (without a table) in sets of 2, 4 and 6! All come in a range of colours (except the Belgravia in grey) and a few have different chair leg colour options, so there's seating for every setting.
Like our tables, all our chairs are next day delivery!
Use coffee tables, TV units or console tables for extra serving space and free up the all-important eating room on the table!
We adore the way @our_wharncliffe_home has used their TV stand and coffee table (that's our Tuscany coffee table!) for this Christmas "scape". You could use yours for similar, or if you're pressed for table space, use them for food. Nibbly bits, or even somewhere to set drinks, or the roast spuds and sprouts.
@stylemyhome_12 also used one of our console tables for some beautiful Christmas decorations. You could use yours for a condiments and gravy station, or a little cocktail bar?
You can also double up on space by pushing 2 tables together, and using bench seats is a great way to get more bums around the table (especially for kids!)
@peartree_home has pushed together 2 of our white Imperia tables with Milan chairs, and provided plenty of space for a stunning centrepiece and all the trimmings!
Danielle Lloyd got 2 of our Cambridge benches for her kitchen a while back and we think they look fab! Super for extra seating at Christmas, too.
Make the most of your outside space and extend your living space outdoors! If you've got the room outdoors, or a conservatory, use it for entertaining. Rattan garden furniture + cosy blankets, Christmas lights and a fire pit or some of those patio heaters = one cosy alfresco Christmas entertaining area. Our Orlando outdoor furniture sets are perfect for outdoor/conservatory entertaining and are available for next day delivery.
OK, now we've got you sorted with all the space-maximising and space-saving 'hacks', let's get stuck into some more fabulous ideas to really make your Christmas a hit. If you're not looking for extending tables or how to cram as many bowls of peanuts as possible on every available surface, let's showcase the other high-impact furniture that'll wow your guests.
Our customers love our high-gloss dining tables becasue they're practical, easy to wipe clean and also pack all drama to make a bold statment.
Both @lifewithjen and @loh_lifestyle have opted for our white high gloss Atlanta table with the statement X-shaped legs in white and chrome. @lifewithjen has styled theirs with these gorgeous royal blue knockerback chairs and tied that into their table and room decor colour (we sell a very similar chair in grey - our Belgravia). @loh_lifestyle paired their Atlanta with our Corona faux leather chairs in Cappucino and tied that into a lovely rose-gold and green colour scheme.
Our glass and chrome tables are very popular and they Instagram really well, because they reflect the light so nicely.
@ouringlefield has opted for our Novara round glass dining table with chrome starburst legs and paired them with 4 grey velvet Pesaro chairs. We absolutely LOVE this stunning centrepiece and that tree!
@ourfirsttimehome chose the rectangular Lucia table and Cappucino Grey Lorenzo faux leather chairs. The rose gold colour scheme is all tied together with the chair ribbons, table runner, glasses, crackers and centrepiece!
Wood and wood-effect tables offer a gorgeous rustic effect that can deliver that Christmas charm. They also go really well with our velvet dining chairs for a very on-trend luxurious look.
This dark wood table really sets off the red and green colour scheme in the decorations and our green velvet Pesaro chairs.
The choice of our grey velvet Pesaro chairs complements this dark wood table and the grey / white decor here!
Our blue velvet Pesaro chairs with gold legs look stunning with our Taranto oak effect gold leg table (this is probably my personal fave Christmas-combo - imagine this with a gorgeous table garland!)
Now all that's left to sort is all the presents and the food... but we're sure you've got that in the bag already (or, if you're anything like me, scrabbling around on Christmas eve trying to defrost a turkey while looking for the sellotape!).
And remember - EVERYTHING FEATURED IN THIS BLOG IS AVAILABLE FOR NEXT DAY DELIVERY so you'll get it in time for Christmas. What are you waiting for?
Now, I know we've done pretty well with the festive goodies and sparkly bits in this blog, but my absolute favourite bit of the whole Christmas season is the decorations. So I've decided to do you a whole separate blog dedicated wholly to Instagrammable Christmas decorations! I'll chock that full of all the gorgeous pics our customers share with us of how they do Christmas in their homes. Believe me, you'll definitely want to check it out.
In the meantime, have another mulled wine and figure out what you're going to get Dave in the office for Secret Santa (I reckon a decent mug, so he'll stop stealing yours).
Happy festives, lovelies.
